Project summary

Aim

To explore the settlement experiences of refugees and other migrants who have arrived in the UK in recent years with particular attention focused on the role of the housing system in their settlement.

Objectives

1. To understand and address the operational challenges and responses faced by frontline officers and services in meeting the housing needs of refugees and third-country nationals.

2. To understand and support the development of long-term strategic decision making of housing options to assist refugees and third-country nationals

3. To understand and support the response by communities and civil society organisations in helping refugees and third-country nationals address their housing needs

4. To further develop the evidence base with regards to how refugees and third-country nationals have navigated their housing pathways (the groups under specific focus are those from Hong Kong, Afghanistan and Ukraine), their housing aspirations and their engagement with their local neighbourhood/communities.
